This was a perfect fit for Asus G501JW. The specs didn’t mention this, but the unit has a 4.5mm outer diameter/3mm inner diameter, with an inner tube where the center pin from the charger goes. On my laptop that tube broke, exposing the contacts inside, and the laptop stopped charging. Soldering a motherboard is intimidating for my nearly nonexistent soldering skills, but I was able to get the computer back up and running. Took me nearly 4 hours, but it was a lot cheaper than buying a new laptop. Desoldering the old connector took most of the time. Trying to wick the solder was unsuccessful and took a lot of time. Just heat up the joint until the solder melts, and gently extract the contacts with needle nose pliers, one at a time. Once I tried that, the process was easy. Also, apparently the ribbon connectors inside are removed by pushing them up to a 90 degree angle, which flips up the plastic retainer. Hope this helps.
