Just got it last night as a replacement for Asus Eee 1000HE.First impressions:Great price - hope it works safely.I was relieved to see that in shape and form it matches the original. (the photo on Amazon is wrong) It has the standard 2-prong 8-shaped AC cord(standard cassette player type power plug you can get for under a buck in any country you go to, or borrow) albeit the cable has a flimsier feel than the original and the 90 degree angle plug into the computer was a nice touch too.(will add actual photos later) Let's hope it outlasts the original.I use the netbook mainly for traveling. I don't like to worry about plug adapters or expensive 3-contact cables, so the "8-shaped" cord is perfect.Looking at the label it says 12V 3A. There is no UL or TUV or other similar label on it, so I didn't dare to plug it in overnight, should it catch on fire. Not that it necessarily would, but it would have been one less thing to worry about. I will plug it in when I have some time to monitor it under full stress (long period of high processor activity WHILE charging an empty battery on either voltage). Let's hope it passes I will post an update with the result. Until we see it work OK rating is only 2 stars based on low price, similarity to original (misleading photo) and more importantly no Underwriters Laboratories (or similar) seal of approval. Will update later.Update - March 19 2012 - still going strong - bumped it to 4 stars (still no UL of course) but it didn't burn out for so long, and more importantly it didn't burn down the house. My bad... had incorrect model info for my Asus... was told it was a 1000HE but it turned out to be a T1001, which does not use ac power.Be smarter than me... verify you need round female plug. This one comes with 2 plug options.OVERVIEW: I bought this adapter to replace my 1000HE adapter. The one I got (unlike other reviewers) had a red light, and a three-pronged plug. If you read other reviews, you will notice that different customers got DIFFERENT adapters while purchasing this product.WARNING: I thought this adapter was working well, actually charging my computer a little faster than the original, until one day I had the misfortune of using it without shoes on. I received a STRONG electrical shock from the metal nub, and when I plugged into my computer (an unintelligent move), I received strong shocks from the monitor and metal fittings on the computer. After consulting several friends who are computer technicians, we came to the conclusion that either the brick was not properly regulating the power from the wall, or the cable was not properly grounded. This can not only ruin your computer but can also prove very dangerous for you.CONCLUSION: Judging from the variation in the reviews of this product, this seller seems to be selling several models of adapter under the same product number, and not all of them are of the same quality. Save yourself some hassle and invest in an original ASUS adapter (available through New Egg) or the FSP adapter that I finally went with The original ac adapter for my 1000HA failed after 18 months. This "high quality" replacement appears to be very similar to the OEM version. It doesn't have a blue LED, which is feature for me. The original ac adapter emitted a very high pitched noise that was very annoying. This adapter doesn't have the high pitched noise, but it does have a lower pitched sound. We'll see how long it lasts...I always keep a spare charger. I buy this brand because it is consistent with quality and longevity. Great price.I have an Asus computer that has required a new charger about every year (sucky, I know). But for the price these chargers cost it hasn't been too bad. This is the second time I have had to purchase this charger. The first one only lasted a year and I expect this one to only last a year. You may want to cut that time in half if you use it often as I only use it less than once a week.Otherwise, it does what it says it's supposed to do and is decent quality. Just don't expect it to last too long. This is a good product, especially for the price. The only problem is that the charger is significantly shorter. There also isn't a light on this charger indicating whether or not there is power going to the charger or not. What I did was take the broken section from my original charger and replace that section with the new one, that way I could maintain some length.--15 Feb 2011, 5 starsMy adapter did not match picture, it's actually better. Its pieces and original equipment are interchangeable and the tip has a 90 degree angle.Plugged it in and my 1000HE started charging. The power brick's LED is green.I've only had it a few days, will edit review if there's anything to update about reliability.--26 Apr 2011, 3 starsA wire in the cable broke near the connector. Charging is possible only if the computer's position does not change. I am looking for a replacement now.
