The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 are due to the keyboard (see below). I spilled liquid on my old laptop and had to replace it. I purchased this one because I have an ASUS notebook and I've been very happy with it. The speed is great - it starts and shuts down almost instantly. I connected a mouse and was able to turn off the cumbersome built in mouse pad through the Settings (I'm glad it wasn't via a button on the keyboard or I might accidentally turn it on or off). I wasn't aware before I bought it that you need Windows 10 Pro to use the Remote Desktop so having the Home version was a let down and I'm not interested in paying out to upgrade. (I used to connect to my Win Pro notebook in another room, which was handy.) The only MAJOR disappointment is the keyboard. Without backlighting, those tiny keys with tiny font are almost impossible to read. l I had to shine a flashlight on them early on at one point to read them. The layout suffers greatly for a speed typist. I wasn't aware how often I used Home and End keys before - on this laptop, they are one of those tiny keys included with the F9 and F10 keys and I have yet to figure out how to access the Home and End (or Page Up or down for that matter. (It would have helped if they were as big as the rest of the keys on the keyboard.) I'd prefer them next to the arrow keys at the bottom. I tried locking the function key lock, and unlocking, but nothing works. I will have to contact ASUS. At first, I had to get used to where the delete key is and it's way out of normal finger reach. I don't like to stop typing to go find the page up/down (or home/end when I figure out how to access those). For now, I'm having to reach over and use the mouse - very inconvenient.) It's the worst keyboard I've ever had in many years of typing as far as layout/accessibility. Other than that, the laptop works well. I got an adapter (thanks to another feedback) so I could hard wire my ethernet connection and not have to rely on WiFi. I had a 14" screen previously, so seeing things spread out on the 15.6" took some getting used to, but it's a nice resolution. Also, I often have two windows open side by side, so I like the extra width. Overall, other than the keyboard, I'm very happy with this laptop.
